❌ Trump drops the anti-weaponization fund. The Trump administration plans to abandon the Department of Justice's "Anti-Weaponization Fund" following legal and political opposition, including from within the GOP. The fund, created from a settlement of Trump's lawsuit against the IRS, was intended to compensate alleged victims of prosecutorial overreach under Biden. |
→ A federal judge blocked the fund temporarily last week, and Senate Democrats threatened to force Republicans into uncomfortable votes on the issue. Republican leaders in the House and Senate did not appear to be on board with the fund. |
🪖 Federal court blocks Trump's trans military ban. A three-judge federal appeals panel ruled that the Trump administration's ban on active-duty transgender-identifying troops is unconstitutional. The ruling blocks the military from removing current transgender service members, but still allows restrictions on new recruits who have gender dysphoria or have undergone sex-change procedures. |
☪️ New Jersey Democrat candidate testified for terrorist mastermind. Congressional candidate Adam Hamawy, leading his Democratic primary with endorsements from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D), testified as a defense witness for the "Blind Sheikh" whose followers carried out the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. Court records show Hamawy had a yearslong relationship with the terrorist leader. |
🔎 DOE investigates North Carolina school over trans incident. The Department of Education launched a civil rights probe into a North Carolina school district for allowing a biological male to use female locker rooms at one high school. Female students reported that the transgender-identifying athlete watched them change, but the principal dismissed their Title IX complaints as "too political to address.” |
