WHAT WE'RE WATCHING |
|
|
🏠 Trump scraps housing bill and declares a “national emergency.” Just before signing a bipartisan housing overhaul, Trump pulled the plug, insisting that the SAVE America Act election integrity bill must be passed before he would sign the housing bill. He labeled the SAVE America Act a “national emergency” and urged Republicans to pass it. |
🙅♂️ Court blocks DOJ from checking voter rolls. The Sixth Circuit blocked the Trump administration from obtaining unredacted voter registration data, including names, birth dates, and partial Social Security numbers. The court argued the government was using Title III of the Civil Rights Act "for an inverse purpose" — to verify people hadn't voted rather than to protect voting rights. |
🌎 After USAID cuts, right-wing victories surge in Latin America. Colombia's election of Trump-backed conservative Abelardo de la Espriella marks the ninth right-leaning government in the region. Some credit sweeping USAID cuts, which dismantled thousands of “pro-democracy” and NGO programs across Latin America. |
🙏 Most Americans support voluntary school prayer. A new Pew survey finds 78 percent of adults favor allowing student-led prayer groups, and about six in ten support some form of teacher-led prayer, provided participation is optional. The divide falls sharply along partisan and religious lines, with Republicans far more supportive than Democrats. |

ADDED CONTEXT |
In Monday’s newsletter, we stated that the “incel” shooter in Montreal killed a police officer and a civilian. However, video footage of the incident appears to show one of the officers shooting a civilian who approached her during the crossfire — though this has not yet been confirmed. |
Corrections and added context are included in newsletters for transparency. |

Looking beyond stocks? Gold is back in focus |

With market uncertainty lingering, more investors are exploring alternative ways to balance their portfolios. One option: a gold IRA, which allows you to hold physical precious metals within a tax-advantaged account. |
If you already have an IRA or 401(k), you may be able to roll those funds over without triggering taxes or penalties. Check out Money’s Best Gold IRA Companies to compare providers and see if this strategy fits your long-term plan. |
