Hey, |
The news can often feel overwhelming. There’s war, violence, fraud, lies, and conspiracy theories everywhere you look. It’s easy to be convinced that America’s days are numbered and that its collapse is imminent — and inevitable. Lots of news outlets make major dough from selling this narrative. |
But we reject it. |
We also reject the idea that the news needs to be consumed 24/7. This is why we take pride in our newsletter, which gives you all the major stories that fly under the radar or get spun by the mainstream media — in just a 5-minute read. We find the stories and narratives that are spun to give you a false impression of the world. And we do our best to break them down and find the truth. |
Take this story, for example: |
Left-leaning outlets have been reporting that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani worked his Democratic Socialism magic to balance the city’s budget, which was $12 billion in debt. Outlets like The New York Times and Politico reported on this, but it simply isn’t true. |
Most of Mamdani’s “balanced budget” is just a bailout from the New York State government. His largest "savings" item is $1.64 billion in reduced pension debt payments — money the city still owes, just pushed to a later date. |
Here’s what’s really happening: the plan extends New York City's pension repayment timeline by five years, meaning future taxpayers will pay more to cover both the delayed contributions and the investment returns that money would have earned. |
Chicago tried the same trick for decades, and its police and firefighters' pension target date has now been pushed to 2060. Mamdani said his budget exemplifies the power of socialism, but it's really just kicking the can down the road. The voters will pay for it. |
We cover lots of stories like these, and even though most of us aren’t living in Chicago or New York, it’s important to know the kind of tricks these politicians try to play — because if they get away with it in one place, they’ll try it elsewhere. |
We do this kind of reporting every day for our paid members — and they tell us it's the only news that keeps them informed without leaving them anxious. |
Right now, you're on the free list, which means you're missing most of what we report. Members get the full daily brief: sharp insights, verified facts, media hoax debunks, and deep dives that tell you what's actually going on beneath the headlines. Everything you need to understand the real story — explained clearly enough to share with your spouse, your kids, your friends — without the noise, the panic, or the spin. |
Here's what you missed this week alone: |
