Peaceful Christian protesters in Iran have been killed. Others have been severely wounded. Church leaders are being pulled from their homes and taken to prison. And many believers can no longer afford basic food.
At the same time, something extraordinary is happening.
You’ve likely heard that the church in Iran is growing rapidly—perhaps faster per capita than anywhere else in the world. What you may not have heard is this: By some estimates, more than 80% of young adults have turned away from Islam in a nation that claims to be 95% Muslim.
Iranians are longing for freedom. The internal turmoil is far worse than most reports suggest. It reminds me of Romania before communism fell—a movement that began when Christians gathered publicly to pray.
We may be witnessing the early stages of a historic revival in the Persian world—one that could ripple across the Middle East.
Iranian young adults are fed up with the Islamic regime and are ready for a change.
